Q What are the Sugar flowers made of?

A Our Readymade Sugarflowers are made of Gumpaste, and are made by hand using gumpaste or aka sugarpaste (a mixture of sugar, oils, and gums). Many designs are also made using non edible floral wire, floral tape, and wired stamens.

Q Are the gum paste sugar flowers edible?

A The gumpaste sugar flowers are intended for decorative purposes only

Q What is Gumpaste aka Sugarpaste aka Gum Paste?

A Similar to fondant, gumpaste, aka sugar paste, is a pliable dough made of a mixture of powdered sugar, gums, and water. It can be rolled very thin and dries very firmly and hard perfect for making handmade sugarflowers and other cake decorations. It is fully edible and is most commonly used for pre making cake decorations.

Q Can I airbrush the Sugarflowers?

A Yes the most common way to decorate and add color to gumpaste sugar flowers is by using an airbrush. Airbrush colors and Luster or Petal Dust work great for spraying on sugarflowers.

Q How long do the gumpaste Sugarflowers keep?

A Sugarflowers keep for several years and can be even kept and used past their “best by” date, as long as their are kept safe and away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Q How do I color the Sugarflowers?

A There are several different ways to color the sugarflowers. The most common way is by using an airbrush to spray color onto the flower. Using a dry brush and Luster Dust or Petal Dust is another common way to add color and texture to the sugarflowers. Edible markers also work great for adding detail to the flowers. We have also dipped and dyed the sugarflowers in diluted food color similar to dyeing easter eggs.

Q Can I refrigerate the Sugarflowers?

A The sugarflowers can be refrigerated, however we suggest to reduce the amount of time the flowers are in the fridge as much as possible. The moisture and condensation of common high traffic refrigerators will slowly break down the sugarflowers. So we suggest either, waiting as long as possible before placing the sugarflowers in the fridge, or place the decorated cake and flowers in a box prior to refrigerating to help keep condensation away from the sugarflowers.

Q How do I place in the Sugarflowers onto my cake?

A The sugarflowers can be placed in the and on the cake in many different ways. The easiest way is to properly place them on top of the cake resting. It is also helpful to place the sugarflowers in the cake by placing the stem in. A protective barrier can also be made to help place the sugar flower in the cake, simply start by trimming a portion of a straw, and stake it into the cake. Then place the stem of the sugarflowers into the straw, keeping it away from the rest of the cake.

Q What can I do if I have broken or damaged Sugarflowers or petals?

A We do our best to package and ship the gumpaste sugarflowers the best that we can, and continue improving our processes as we grow. However, due to the fragile nature of gumpaste, breakage can occur occasionally during shipping. Don't panic. All is not lost, there are a few creative ways to work with the remaining flower or repair the breakage. The easiest way to disguise any breakage is, when possible, cut off the entire petal or leaf that is damaged. Or by placing the broken petal against the icing hiding the breakage. Depending on the flower, at times the remaining components or leaves that are not broken can be removed and unassembled to be added to other flowers or used to repair other flowers. Q How should I store my gumpaste Sugarflowers? Will the colors change?

A It is best to store your gumpaste sugarflowers in their original packaging with the sponge properly placed in a cool, dark and dry area. Moisture and direct UV light are not good for the storage of the sugarflowers.

Q How are the Sugarflowers packed?

Q Are the gumpaste Sugarflowers fragile?

A Due to the fragile nature of cured gumpaste, the sugarflowers are relatively fragile. Please handle with care when opening and adjusting the petals and leaves after opening.

Q Should I purchase extra Sugarflowers for my cake design?

A It is always a good idea to order a few extra flowers than you may anticipate needing simply because, accidents can happen. Accidents of breakage, misplacement, or even miscalculation and the cake ends up needing a few more flowers that first thought. Any extra or spare sugarflowers can always be stored and kept for long periods of time for a future cake design.

Q How early in advance should I purchase my flowers?

A Please keep in mind a few factors when purchasing flowers for your cake design. Make sure to leave plenty of time of at least a week or two just incase you will need to order additional or replacement sugarflowers. Please consider ordering your flowers as far in advance as possible also as at times particular sugarflower may go out of stock.

Q What do I do if my gumpaste sugarflowers arrive broken?

A Due to the fragile nature of gumpaste and the thin details of particular sugarflowers, breakage can occur during shipping. We continue to work on improving our packaging and shipping procedures, but we are aware that not all flowers will arrive perfectly. If you have received a box that is beyond repair or beyond being able to work with any of the components, please contact us at [email protected] with an explanation, a photo attachment of the damage, and an invoice number. We will respond within 24-48 hours with a remedy to fix the situation.
